ANTI WRINKLE TREATMENTS

ANTI WRINKLE TREATMENTS ︙

Anti wrinkle injections are made from Botulinum toxin strains that are produced from a culture of a bacterium called the Clostridium botulinum.

The purified protein has been used, safely, in the medical field for more than 30 years and are now extremely common in the aesthetics world for treating wrinkles and lines caused by ageing.

Bototulinium toxin is administered through injections and is a non-surgical, minimally invasive treatment, giving the muscles of the face amore relaxed and refreshed look.

Botulinum toxin maybe branded Azzulure, Allergan Botox or Boucouture, although the treatment is widely call ‘botox’.

What to expect at your appointment

After a full consultation has taken place, consent is obtained by the doctor to ensure the treatment is safe and suitable for you in regards to your medical status. Photographs of your face will be taken to be kept on your confidential records. You will be encouraged to relax on the treatment couch and the areas of injection will then be marked up with a fine white crayon and checked. A series of small injections in to the facial muscles will occur, taking only a few minutes. There is minimal downtime, however, you are welcome to relax in the waiting area after treatment, if needed.

  • Aftercare

Aftercare is simple and normal activities can resume quickly.

It is recommended not to touch the area or wear cosmetics for the rest of the day, to reduce the risk of infection.

Avoid excessive alcohol intake, excessive exercise or anything where sweating will increase, increasing the chance of bruising.

It is advised not to lie down for 4 hours post treatment.

  • Follow up

Follow up is recommended and offered at 2 weeks post treatment, included in the initial payment. Follow up is not considered at a date exceeding 2 weeks, another appointment and payment would be needed for anything longer than 14 days post treatment. It is important to understand that with all treatments the actual degree of improvement cannot be predicted or guaranteed and refunds are not given.

Photographs, pre and post treatment, are taken and stored for 7 years as part of my clinical record. These will be stored in your confidential records and not be shared for marketing purposes unless separately agreed.

FAQs

  • Botulinium toxin causes muscle relaxation by temporarily disrupting nerve activity to muscles.

Normally, nerves carry signals to muscles to make them move. When our muscles move they create wrinkles which, over time, can become permanent. When you inject Botox into key muscles some of these signals are temporally blocked and so the movement of that muscle becomes relaxed, the appearance of lines and wrinkles are then reduced.

  • Typically 3-6 months, although everyone is different. As the muscle activity begins to return, the treatment needs to be repeated.
